Sichuan Enterprises impressed by Uganda’s investment opportunities.

The Uganda Embassy in Beijing organized a China-Uganda Investment Forum in Chengdu City, Sichuan Province, the People’s Republic of China on 10th April 2018 under the theme “Introducing Uganda’s investment opportunities”. The forum also provided a platform to promote Uganda’s tourism.

Over 150 enterprises from Sichuan Province were addressed by Hon. Vincent Ssempijja, Minister of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries, who introduced Uganda the opportunities for investment in the agriculture sector with special emphasis on the full value chain process.

Additionally, Uganda’s Ambassador to China, H.E Dr. Chrispus Kiyonga underscored the strong bi-lateral relations between China and Uganda. He invited investors from Sichuan to take up the opportunities presented by Uganda, highlighting the priority sectors for investment including agriculture, mining, tourism, industrial parks, ICT etc. He further informed of Uganda’s competitive advantages such as security, favorable polices and wide market access regionally and internationally.

The Forum was graced by the Deputy Director General of the Sichuan Provincial Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Mr. Hao Kailin and the Director General of Chengdu Municipal Foreign Affairs Office Mr. Jiang Bin, who lauded the existing bi-lateral relations between Uganda and China and Sichuan province in particular and encouraged the enterprises to take up the opportunities and invest in Uganda.
